Care guide

To ensure your jewellery remains as stunning as the day you received it, we've put together a simple solid gold jewellery care guide. This guide provides you with jewellery care instructions on how to clean, store, and handle your jewellery, preserving its beauty and integrity for years to come.

Yellow and Rose Gold

Just like a plant wilts when neglected, treating your jewellery poorly causes wear and tear. As our pieces are made of solid gold, you can wear it in the shower and it will not rust. Signs of use will naturally appear as you wear them daily, collecting marks along the way. Keep your jewellery in good shape by avoiding unnecessary force.Β

White gold

White gold is rhodium plated, the final step to add extra shine to white gold pieces. Overtime, the shine of white gold can deteriorate and reduce its brilliance. If this occurs, you can contact us for a cleaning and care service for a fee, orΒ complimentary cleaningΒ within theΒ first 12 months of purchase from our store.

Β

Avoid harsh chemicals

It’s best to avoid contact with Chlorine chemicals which can be found in swimming pools, hot tubs and household cleaning supplies. This is because chlorine from swimming pools and hot tubs will eat away at the metals that the 18ct gold is alloyed with and weaken your pieces.

Β

Diamond care

While diamonds are resilient and resist scratches (except from other diamonds), they're not invincible. Treat your diamond pieces with care to prevent chipping due to strong forces or damage from contact with other diamonds. Regularly check for any signs of looseness in the setting to avoid potential issues. If your diamond does become loose, you can get this repaired by our in house jeweller. Learn more.

When it's cleaning time, opt for a gentle approach. Give your diamond jewellery a wipe with a lint-free cloth for a quick sparkle. For a more thorough cleaning, use warm water, mild soap, and a soft toothbrush. Your diamonds will maintain their brilliance for the long haul.

Pave setting

Handle fine pave set bands with care to prevent stone loosening. Regularly inspect your ring for any signs of loose stones. If you've bumped it or suspect a loose stone, avoid wearing it until professionally checked.

Opals & Coloured Gemstones

Delicate gold or silver prongs that secure gemstones are not impervious to everyday wear. Unintentional knocks against hard surfaces, like steel door handles, may go unnoticed but can displace these tiny prongs, leading to potential gemstone loss.

For emeralds, in particular, are generally deemed durable, their natural inclusions can make them somewhat brittle, increasing the risk of chipping. Therefore, they demand extra attention compared to other coloured gemstones. To preserve their glow and luster, we suggest taking them off before bathing, swimming, or engaging in vigorous activities.

For our opals and coloured gemstones, we recommend a gentle wipe with a damp, soft cloth and mild detergent. Steer clear of bleach, chemicals, and cleaners, as they can harm the stone. Avoid using an ultrasonic cleaner, as its intense vibrations may result in cracking.

Β

Storing

Our jewellery is made for everyday wear, but gold can still scratch. Store your pieces individually in our microfibre pouch or lined box to prevent them from jostling against each other.

Cleaning

Dirt can accumulate over time in tight areas. To clean your jewellery, mix mild soap with warm water, soak your piece, gently scrub with a soft brush, and then rinse and pat dry. It is recommended you clean your jewellery at least once a month.Alternatively, you can consider either investing in an ultrasonic cleaner, which uses high-frequency sound waves to remove debris. For pave setting pieces, avoid using an ultrasonic.

Repair

We offer repair services depending on your piece. For more information on what we offer, learn more about our services.
